Simply Simplifying
“This is the beautiful secret of minimalism: It may seem like it’s about stuff, but once you’ve cut through the clutter and adopted a new frame of mind, you learn that it’s barely about ‘the stuff’ at all.”
-“The Minimalist Way” by Erica Layne
Old paradigms and traditional ways of doing things are rapidly changing.
The world I grew up in is drastically different than the world my daughter is growing up in, both technologically and socially.
Certain things remain the same though, we still have certain needs for our physical bodies to keep operating. In many parts of the world, those needs have become pretty easy to fulfill, and do not require a lot of wealth.
Essential Minimalism is sweeping through many cultures right now. This ideology is literally changing the goal of life. A goal is an idea of the future or desired result that a person or a group of people envision, plan, and commit to achieve.
A goal is a purpose or aim, these aims guid individual’s behaviors.
Within the old paradigm Goals are usually directed at acquiring some kind of physical object (precious minerals, money, things... ) so that those physical objects can provide a way of acquiring abstract subjective objects (stability, contentment, accomplishment)...
When a person reaches these goals that person is said to be a “success.”
A problem arises when someone asks the question, “how much stuff does a person need to acquire those subjective abstract goals?”
It seems that a person could “feel” content and happy without possessing any physical objects as long as their physical survival needs were met!!!
Through Essential Minimalism people are able to take care of their physical survival needs easily and “cheaply.” This makes it easy to not just survive but thrive in entrepreneurship.
Another paradigm shift is changing the way some companies do business. Cooperation is the action of entities or organizations who are being helpful by doing what is wanted or asked for.
Collaboration is the process of two or more people, entities, or organizations working together to complete a task or achieve a goal.
In the new paradigm it is believed that Groups that work collaboratively often access greater resources, recognition, and rewards than Ones that do not.
We don’t need a lot of physical objects to be content and there are some shifts in perspective about money, wealth, success, and happiness.
